The ETS Front Mount Intercooler kit is a must have for
anyone serious about modifying their stealth/3000gt. As the 3si (3000gt/stealth
chassis code) is heavy car, it is in grave need of an intercooler upgrade. The
stock intercoolers, with only 110sqin of surface area, are hardly large enough
for even stock boost levels. Once the boost is turned up, the stock intercoolers
quickly become heat soaked after only a few pulls, once heat soaked, detonation
is likely to follow, and the results are often a blown engine. The ETS Front
mount kit with over 310sq/in of surface area, rectifies all shortcomings of the
stock system, and leaves you with an intercooler and plumbing system that can
handle even the highest boost levels. Main Points of Interest: 75% Larger Core No matter how good an intercooler is designed and how efficient the core is; if it isn't large enough for the application, it will not do an adequate job. The stock intercoolers have an internal volume of 275cu/in, while the ETS unit has an internal volume of 1092cu/in of very dense and efficient internal fins. - ETS Bar and Plate Core The ETS core is the
best intercooler cores on the market hands down. The ETS cores feature a
unique blend of offset and staggered internal fins, and louvered external
fins. This yields a very high efficiency unit, while still allowing ample air
to the radiator.
- Shorter Piping Not only is our piping larger, higher flowing, and better looking, than stock, it is also shorter. In the stock systems, there is 178in of piping, while the ETS kit has 157in of piping. Plain and simply, shorter piping equals faster spool up.
- Larger Piping At 1.5", the stock piping is only good for 16psi before it starts becoming restrictive, The ETS piping, at 2" will easily support upwards of 30psi and 800hp if need be.
- Piping does not route over Hot Turbo The stock piping, and all other kits that follow stock routing, run the pipes right over the front turbo and exhaust manifold. As the heat from the turbo/manifold rises, it soaks right into the post intercooler piping, in which, the now heated charge air goes directly into the T/B.
- Retains Stock Components Our intercooler kit does not require removal or relocation of the charcoal canister, fan(s), or oil cooler. Just relocation of the horns to another stock hole, and that's it.
- Retains Splash guards and ground effects Your engine bay stays clean with the inner fenders, and lower splash guards in place. By keeping the front end under car spoilers, you will maintain the factory stability at high speeds.
- Easy Installation The hardest part of the install is the bumper cover removal. From that point, there is minor inner fender trimming on the driver side, some lower fan shroud trimming on the passenger side, and fog light removal. This is outlined with pictorial instructions. Once the Intercooler and piping are installed, there is minor bumper cover trimming, and it all goes back together. Even though the FMIC install is an all day job, it is easier than many other upgrades for the 3si.
- Performance The ETS kit is a true performer.
Upon installation, you will notice that the car no longer falls-off in
performance after a few hard pulls. Also if you had knocking issues above
16psi, it will be eliminated. As you upgrade to bigger turbos and more boost,
the kit continue to shine more and more.
