Our cores boast an ingenious configuration with offset and staggered internal and external fin packs. It's all too common for customers to be lured by cheaper alternatives. Unfortunately, these budget intercoolers come at a cost. Most of them employ a straight-through internal fin pack, resembling a tunnel rather than a splitter. Consequently, they yield significantly higher and hotter intake air temperatures, which in turn lead to adverse effects such as timing reduction, knock, misfires, and even detonation.

We start by strategically locating the inlets and outlets in the middle of the core, ensuring proper air distribution and optimal flow throughout. Each inlet and outlet undergoes meticulous hand porting to reduce turbulence and maximize airflow. In contrast, we've observed other manufacturers simply welding on a tube without deburring the inside, resulting in excessive turbulence that disrupts the smooth flow of air through the core.

The truth is in the filter! We worked closely with K&N to develop a filter that meets our expectations and performance goals. Unlike other filters on the market, the ETS filter is constructed with deep pleats for maximum surface area, rounded internal edges to prevent turbulence, and the largest flow area of any filter on the market for the 15+ WRX.

Excellent upgrade for 2015-21 WRX

ETS is absolutely the go to FMIC for 15-21 WRX’s along with every other make and model car. Key things to take into consideration if you’re on the fence about switching from a TMIC to FMIC is not only does an FMIC upgrade significantly lower intake temp and maintain those temps, it also cuts out having to remove the TMIC which reduces maintenance and service times and allows for the most part instant access to behind the engine and top of the transmission and ETS has superior craftsmanship and quality components. For the 15-21 WRX, having a FMIC allows for easier maintenance and service period. It cuts down on time to remove the intake manifold, allows easy access to the PCV which allows for on the go IAG AOS check valve replacement along with inspecting or replacing the plumbing associated with the IAG AOS, spark plugs and coils packs are easier to access, the list goes on for anything that requires removing the TMIC and charge pipe to perform maintenance. Removing the charge pipe, especially a Killer B charge pipe and aftermarket top mount to do a lot of projects on my car has been the only thing I don’t like to do simply because it opens up the possibility of making a mistake connecting a coupling, mainly the top mount to throttle body coupling. ETS is the way to go simply because the kit includes T-clamps while competitors are mostly using worm gear clamps. All of the components in the kit are top notch and designed to last and allow for headroom for adding power in the future. Since I have an upgraded turbo I went with the 3.5 inch core, the 3 inch would be more than sufficient but I plan on keeping my car and eventually getting a long block then turning up the power. Managing heat along with keeping up with maintenance is the key to boxer engine longevity, the FMIC will allow me to use the TMIC location for an oil cooler when I eventually opt for a long block. I highly recommend ETS, I’m going to replace my intake with an ETS intake because that’s well designed as well. Anyone with an upgraded turbo should really make the switch to drop the intake temperature because even though a quality top mount can manage the temperature, it’ll eventually heat soak due to location but the upgraded turbo will spool much quicker, compressing the air which on its own raises the temperature to the degree that a top mount can’t keep up with even with plenty of air passing through it.

Definitely a need for the WRX

Just put it on with the HKS BOV and it sounds great, definitely feel a difference from the stock one. Would recommend for any new WRX/STI owner.

The Gold Standard

ran the 3.5" on the stock turbo for a while. performed great. big FA build and upgraded to the 5". fitment is snug but still works with the bumper. you also need to purchase the right size couplers since the 5" core has bigger inlets/outlets. Cant wait to shove 40+ psi into this thing and see how she does. Of course, top notch customer service from ETS as well
